Présentation
Nawā is a quartet whose soundscape blends poetic narratives, jazz, contemporary languages, and Arab and North African traditions. In Arabic, Nawā simultaneously means “seed” and “intention,” here projecting the spirit of the music: a core where diverse influences meet and the shared desire to tell stories through it. At the origin of the poetic purpose, our seed is a reflection on trees. A poem written by Sarra speaks of an old tree that would transmit water, air, and the wisdom of its life to the younger ones surrounding it. As a seed, Nawā symbolizes origin and essence, the inner core of what we are beneath the layers of culture, history, and inherited memory. As intention, the word evokes the will to move, to cross borders, and to imagine a different future. In this dual meaning, “nawā” captures the tension between rootedness and movement, memory and transmission, and becomes the metamorphosis of lives shaped by migration, displacement, and the search for self through changing landscapes.
