Présentation
With a voice both profound and agile, a magnificent timbre, and powerful live performances, Portuguese vocalist Sofia Ribeiro — described by OJO as someone who has “the talent to evoke a mix of emotions in just a few minutes” — draws listeners instantly into her unique musical world. She has performed extensively across Europe, the United States, and South America, earning numerous international awards. Her eleven albums as a leader, a two-year residency at Carnegie Hall, and her role as a teacher at Bobby McFerrin’s “Circle Songs” in the U.S. stand among her career highlights.
Sofia sings in Portuguese, Spanish, English, and an invented language, and also uses her voice as an instrument. She tells stories about her songs, improvises freely, and engages the audience to sing with her. Now, she brings her latest trio — with guitarist Manel Ferreira and cellist Annemie Osborne — to the stage, presenting fresh material from her upcoming album in a dynamic blend of jazz and world music.
