Young Talents – Adriana Calvo “Double Madness”

The band started in December 2024 and has been performing regularly around Brussels ever since, playing at various jazz venues and clubs. From the beginning, the idea behind Double Madness was to explore the possibilities of a jazz quartet without a harmonic instrument, giving more space to the two saxophones and a different kind of role to the rhythm section.The project also became the subject of Adriana Calvo’s Master’s thesis, where she looked into how two alto saxophonists can work together in the front line, how they communicate, and how the group creates harmony and structure in a more open setting.Their repertoire includes bebop and hard bop tunes, as well as more open compositions that give room for interaction, improvisation, and exploring different textures. The focus is on strong musical connection, creative freedom, and a shared love for playing live.
