Présentation
Canto yo y la montaña baila
This project is conceived around the book Canto jo i la muntanya balla / Canto yo y la montaña baila by Catalan writer Irene Solà. The group draws on the juxtaposition of stories and perspectives proposed by the author to create a soundscape rooted in the ancestral and mystical energy of mountains and the fables that inhabit them – whether in the Pyrenees, Teide, the Sierra Nevada or the Picos de Europa. The synthesizers emulate the pipe organ. The slow, minimalist rhythm of Kyria Libia supports the various voices that come to sketch and bring forth other stories – parallel tales or ones from another time – carried by Vanesa Díaz Gil (voice), Alba Aceytuno (alto saxophone), Benoît Quentin (double bass) and Rodrigo Ballesteros (drums).
The idea for this carte blanche was born from an urgent need for warmth and light, in the midst of this historically long winter the world is going through. Gathering around a fire to remember that humanity shares a common refuge—an ancient, rich, generous and borderless space.
