Marjan Van Rompay Group

Marjan Van Rompay is an alto saxophonist with a lot of vocal qualities in her playing style, and the music she writes often feels and sounds like what could be called instrumental singer-songwriting. These are two typical and defining aspects of her musical personality that also indicate that she has always gone her own way in the search for her voice on an instrument that has, to a large extent, helped define the sound of the music we call “jazz. Live, her band does function as a jazz band, with an improvised approach to her songs, and a lot of lyrical input from her rhythm section that communicatively supports her lilting, warm and soulful sound. Marjan is working with her Marjan Van Rompay Group on a new album of her own new songs to be released in September 2025.
