Bill Stewart Trio ft. Larry Grenadier & Walter Smith III

Bill Stewart’s trio, featuring Larry Grenadier and Walter Smith III, is widely regarded as one of the most exciting ensembles on today’s jazz and improvised music scene. Bill Stewart and Larry Grenadier share a long-standing musical partnership, having performed together in Pat Metheny’s groups (from 1999 to 2000 and again in 2008) as well as John Scofield’s band (1996–1997), in addition to collaborating on numerous recording sessions. Bill Stewart first met Walter Smith III during a recording session led by pianist Danny Grissett and was immediately struck by the saxophonist’s distinctive sound and deeply personal approach to music.
