Mâäk Quintet

Mâäk, formerly known as Mâäk Spirit, is a group and artistic collective founded in 1998 by Laurent Blondiau. Over the years, the collective has given rise to numerous projects, both in Belgium and internationally, ranging from intimate ensembles to large-scale formations such as MikMâäk. The quintet, featuring the unusual line-up of four horn players and one drummer, performs a repertoire inspired by these various African musical journeys. While rooted in finely crafted contemporary compositions, the music is driven by a constant search for freedom. The result is a rich, generous sound infused with infectious energy.
